Solving a packaging challenge

Influencer brands, startups and small hair, beauty, food and household products businesses often face challenges when it comes to packaging in plastic containers. Custom packaging can make your brand stand out, but the the high minimum order quantity and long delivery times make it prohibitive.

Takemoto launched a transformative solution. With the world's biggest collection of packaging moulds, they could produce and replenish a stock of popular and designer containers in a range of colours and materials with a vast array of closures and accessories. Customers could mix and match to create a unique result and best of all, they could receive immediate delivery. Now what Takemoto needed was a B2B website design that could make the process simple.

Crafting a custom solution

Takemoto asked Userkind to create a best-in-class online experience, setting their platform apart in the competitive bulk packaging industry.
The objective was clear: design a website that not only showcases Takemoto's esteemed designer credentials, but also provides a frictionless and intuitive journey, despite the inherent complexity of product choices.

The focus was on creating an educational space where customers can effortlessly learn about the suitable containers and materials for their products, emphasising Takemoto's commitment to sustainability.

The end goal was a user-friendly and seamless checkout process, mirroring the ease of any typical e-commerce store.

An intuitive ecommerce experience

Our approach to the UI design for ecommerce involved meticulous typeface selection and overall simplicity. We sculpted a sleek user interface, allowing the seamless integration of typography and beautiful, artistic images and functional details to eloquently convey the Takemoto brand narrative.

We prioritised a smooth and fluid experience, incorporating gentle easing transitions with user interactions. The web page designs are intentionally uncluttered, featuring clean design elements, and information is revealed in layers to provide customers with the details they need when they need them.

Paying careful attention to intuitive details in the website design to prompt interactions, we conducted real-user testing to refine the design, resulting in an easy-to-understand flow of actions. This user-centred design approach allows customers to effortlessly create personalised products, add them to the cart, and seamlessly proceed to checkout.

Technical innovation on a budget

Calling on one of our trusted development teams, Soul+Wolf, we embarked on the technical journey to transform vision into reality.

Opting for ShopifyPlus was a strategic decision rooted in practical considerations: our client operated within budget constraints, necessitating a solution that enabled a focus on critical innovative features. Additionally, with a small team and limited e-commerce experience on the client side, the choice of ShopifyPlus ensured a stable and easily manageable system.

The collaboration between our UX design and engineering teams was pivotal. Together, we not only harnessed Shopify's capabilities but also innovated, pushing the boundaries to realise sophisticated product customisation features, that seamlessly blend the realms of user experience and technical capability.
